International Women’s Day

Happy International Women’s Day! These phenomenal women are only a short list of my inspirations! Top left to right: Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek with a way too excited fan (me), Tina Modotti, Ariell Johnson of Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse, Faith Ringgold, Celia Cruz, and Lee Krasner!

Awesome Con 2015

Awesome Con 2015 has come and gone! It was my 2nd year appearing in Artist Alley and I had a pretty good experience. I was at the tail end of one of the aisles, but I still had a pretty good turnout. I want to thank everyone soooo much for visiting me at the event! More photos and review/log of events after the jump! XOXO

The Great Philadelphia Comic Con 2015! – Photos & Review

IMG_4850

The Great Philadelphia Comic Con has come and gone! It was a local convention for me during the weekend of April 3rd-5th. It was great to be at a convention so close to home! I’m glad I went since I met my friends again and possibly made more!

More photos and my review of the con are after the jump!

Hello, All! I’ve been busy with the day job (and snow days!), so I’d like to post what I’m doing for convention season. I may have more Walking Dead and other pieces to post in the near future. The problem is that I always hate lots of things I work on, haha! This is already one of my favorite pieces, and I don’t have many. 😀

IF – Passion

First post of 2015! This piece is just a study using Isabella Morawetz’s brushes and a photo ref. About 1 1/2 hrs.

The topic is ‘Passion’. Made in Photoshop CS6 w/ a Wacom Pen & Touch Medium Tablet.

2014 in Review

My Best Moments of 2014:

  • Meeting & talking with Ron Glass, Alan Tudyk, and Nichelle Nichols
  • Traveling to New Comic Cons (Awesome Con & Special Edition: NYC)
  • Discovering Ello months later than everyone else 😛
  • Remembering why Tumblr is important for brands & artists: http://bit.ly/1xwHuj6
  • Buying my first car. 😀

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,500 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 42 trips to carry that many people.

Directory of Illustration #31

DoI Post

It finally came! My entry is on page 406 and this is filled with crazy-talented illustrators from around the globe. The objective of this directory is to get illustrators seen by the publishers or anyone who hires freelancers. I would like to get my work published as book covers but I know I have a lot of work ahead of me to achieve that goal. Since I also work full-time it will be a fun challenge for me. If you’re in the same boat, the hardest part is planning out time to do your own projects after spending 8-9 hours doing the same for the day job. It’s going to be a tough road, but I am willing to work for it.

This past weekend was spent visiting The Great Allentown Comic Con. I was excited to meet Nichelle Nichols of Star Trek! This was my first time attending the con, so I decided to stop by as a visitor to see potential for exhibiting there for next year.

Over the years, I have come across many people who may not know what to do when hiring their first freelancer. I thought I’d give a quick list of what you should do when you are in need of creative services. When hiring a freelance Illustrator or Designer, it’s important to inquire about their services in the CORRECT way.
